What access does SiteSelf need to perform updates?

Running plugin, theme, and core updates requires three connections: your WordPress site, your chat tool (Slack or Telegram), and an SSH-enabled hosting connection. Because safe command-line execution and file replacements happen at the server level, installing the SiteSelf WordPress plugin alone is not sufficient for software upgrades.

Does SiteSelf apply updates automatically on a weekly schedule?

No. SiteSelf operates strictly on demand. Maintenance starts when you request it in chat—whether you ask to check pending updates or authorize a full upgrade cycle. SiteSelf does not run background auto-updates without your explicit direction.

Can SiteSelf update premium plugins and themes?

Yes, as long as the plugin or theme has a valid, active license key configured on your site. If an update is blocked by an expired license or missing API key, your agent flags the blocker in chat so you can renew it with the vendor.

Can I use this service on sites built with Elementor, Divi, or Beaver Builder?

Yes. Your agent can update the page builder plugins and parent themes via your hosting connection. However, editing layouts, styling, or content generated inside proprietary visual builders remains outside SiteSelf's editing scope.

What post-update checks does the agent perform?

Can I back up my site before running updates?

What happens if an update breaks a feature or causes an error?

What if our site code is deployed through a Git repository or CI/CD pipeline?
